About Me

I'm a Cape Town based freelance web developer who specialises in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, WordPress and custom CMS development. I also make WordPress themes.

With over 10 years experience in the industry I've had the privilege of working on a number of projects ranging in size and complexity from large enterprise systems where I functioned as part of a 10 man team to small boutique websites where I was the sole developer.

Web Development
From website to intranet to blog no matter what your online needs might be I can provide the solution. I develop with PHP and MySQL.
HTML and CSS
When it comes to HTML less is more. I write concise, semantic HTML and CSS which ensures the websites I make are SEO friendly and structured for easy updating with no code bloat.
jQuery
Most commonly known for rendering Flash obsolete jQuery can add some extra bells and whistles that can really be the difference between a good site and a great site.
WordPress
Currently powering 20% of the web WordPress is a widely used open source content management system. Highly customisable and greatly optimised it's an excellent springboard for development of your online presence.
Custom CMS Development
If you want to manage your website content but would rather opt for something slightly more scaled down I can tailor make a bespoke solution to fit your requirements.
Responsive Websites
We're living in an age where mobile devices account for 15% of global internet traffic. To not have a mobile friendly / responsive website is to cut yourself off from a daily expanding market.

Street Fighter 2

As a personal project I decided to remake Street Fighter 2 using the JavaScript game framework ImpactJS. It's taken 9 months to get it to a point where I would consider it a playable game even though there's only 2 playable characters. You can read more about the creation process here.

A simple and concise one pager brought to life by some subtle jQuery animations.

The site is responsive and runs on a custom WordPress theme which means all content is updateable by the client.

Recently voted one of the top Italian restaurants of 2014 by Eat Out, Mama Cucina needed a simple "one page" brochure site to showcase their menu, specials and latest news.

Peter Gilder

The website for jeweller Peter Gilder boasts responsive full-screen backgrounds and product catalogues.

Powered by WordPress he is able to add and categorise new items of jewellery with ease. As well as manage all content including the background images.
